Mono Mondays:

Mono Mondays:

On Mondays, we like to support our resident artist, Mono!  They're an up-and-coming scribbler of things dark and weird, and we consider ourselves lucky to have leeched onto— er, formed a mutually beneficial relationship with them.  You can watch Mono hard at work creating various pieces on their YouTube channel.  For those who don't feel like watching digital paint getting splashed around, we'll be showcasing a different piece of theirs right here every Monday.

This week is a little bit of a callback.

About two months ago, Mono walked through how the presence of powerful slimes led to the development of quasi-religions.  It turns out that the presence of powerful dragons will do that too.  The empires that live further away from the forest are more interested in one dyad in particular- that of the two dragons above.  The dragon on the left is worshipped as a god of space and darkness; the dragon on the right, the light of the sun.  Their exact relationship is hotly debated, with guesses ranging from hated enemies to fated lovers.  Per Mono, the truth is a bit more awkward:  "The answer is that Pari (the orange dragon of stars) hasn't accepted Harli's (the purple one) feelings yet, entering this back and forth of proposals and dancing around the true feelings with teasing."

There you have it- the gods of the human empires are high schoolers from a shoujo anime.  We'd say something like "except they're dragons," but honestly, even that happens in shoujo anime more than you would think.
