Mono Mondays: Art Slime

Mono Mondays: Art Slime

On Mondays, we like to support our resident artist, Mono!  They're an up-and-coming scribbler of things dark and weird, and we consider ourselves lucky to have leeched onto— er, formed a mutually beneficial relationship with them.  You can watch Mono hard at work creating various pieces on their YouTube channel.  For those who don't feel like watching digital paint getting splashed around, we'll be showcasing a different piece of theirs right here every Monday.

This week, we'll be looking at the work of Mono's slimy alter ego.

Mono hasn't gone so far as to develop a Slim Shady-esque alternate personality, but they do have an artistic slime, one "Art Slimey," whose take on slimes is more anthropomorphic and less "those are slimes, slimes don't have personalities.  Case in point:  Art Slimey's effort to introduce people to the environmentally based evolution of slimes.  Slimes will evolve whenever magic is present in sufficient quantities, but the form that evolution takes will depend on the conditions prevalent at the time.  A slime feeding off the ambient magic in a weapon store room could become a Sword Slime, a Shield Slime, or a Slime Wizard, based mostly on a combination of what is present in the weapon store room and what the slime, which absorbs knowledge like a sponge, comes to believe is important.  Each of the above slimes had magic and some outside influence that caused them to evolve in a new direction.

Presumably, Art Slimey is the result of magic and an apprentice's efforts to catalogue slimes.  If this is the secret origin of Art, however, that revelation will have to wait for a future update.

P.S.  Per Mono, one of their prior works is also "by" Art.  2 Internet Points await the person who figures out which work it is!
