Mono Mondays: Darkest Forests
Share
On Mondays, we like to support our resident artist, Mono! They're an up-and-coming scribbler of things dark and weird, and we consider ourselves lucky to have leeched onto— er, formed a mutually beneficial relationship with them. You can watch Mono hard at work creating various pieces on their YouTube channel. For those who don't feel like watching digital paint getting splashed around, we'll be showcasing a different piece of theirs right here every Monday.
This week, we're looking at a slightly less pleasant neck of the woods.

In the deepest parts of the woods, says Mono, are souls that become trapped by the twisted vines, wandering eternally. Stories say that they take multiple forms, from friendly will o' wisps that guide people out of the woods they can never escape, all the way to that especially creepy fellow in the center, a ghoul who lights his way with the captured essence of tyrants and petty kings.
The thing is, nobody has ever actually seen those souls and returned to tell the tale, so this is all speculation. It also means that, if you ever do see any of these things, regardless of how benevolent (or not) they are... you're in trouble.
