Mono Mondays: Dragon Fruit
Share
On Mondays, we like to support our resident artist, Mono! They're an up-and-coming scribbler of things dark and weird, and we consider ourselves lucky to have leeched onto— er, formed a mutually beneficial relationship with them. You can watch Mono hard at work creating various pieces on their YouTube channel. For those who don't feel like watching digital paint getting splashed around, we'll be showcasing a different piece of theirs right here every Monday.
This week, we have a more appetizing work than usual.

These are two different versions of dragon fruit. It's less of a pun and more of a matter of taking the lore surrounding Mono's artwork to its logical conclusion. See, dragons are supremely powerful creatures that feed on magic, but nobody said those creatures had to come from eggs. Some do, of course, and those are often raised with the assistance of slimes, but the end result of any living thing consuming enough magic is a dragon. For example, should a tree absorb enough magic, its fruit will become dragon fruit.
Dragon fruit, when hatched, will take on different forms depending on their color. What we see in the picture above is a yellow, snakelike dragon fruit trading gossip with a smaller, flying red dragon fruit. Presumably, other colors also exist, but scaling becomes an issue beyond this point.
Zing!
