Mono Mondays: His Fearsome Visage
Share
On Mondays, we like to support our resident artist, Mono! They're an up-and-coming scribbler of things dark and weird, and we consider ourselves lucky to have leeched onto— er, formed a mutually beneficial relationship with them. You can watch Mono hard at work creating various pieces on their YouTube channel. For those who don't feel like watching digital paint getting splashed around, we'll be showcasing a different piece of theirs right here every Monday.
This is a sequel to last week's post. The twins, sadly, don't get a happily ever after.

Halfway into the campaign we mentioned last week, the twins were split up by circumstance. Kythor turned in a bounty on some cultists they had encountered, while Meris found herself in a duel to the death with what would turn out to be the evil cult's champion fighter. Although she left the champion with a nasty scar, Meris lost her life, and Kythor returned to find her makeshift funeral in progress.
He didn't take it well.
Also mentioned last week was the fact that the twins have demonic blood. In Kythor, this took the form of a semi-controllable ability to assume a nightmarish countenance, as though when looking him in the eye, you are forced to glimpse a small corner of Hell. What you see above is what the champion saw before Kythor took his bloody, screaming vengeance. It is also what quite a few cultists saw; by the time Kythor's rampage was ended, he had personally butchered more than two dozen of them.
Don't feel too sad about Meris. While her physical form was slain, her demonic blood means that she is now a resident of Hell, rather than a victim. In fact, in the campaign's epilogue, she reappeared in a ghostly form to gush about her new job: tempting mortals to join her in eternal damnation. Of course, being Meris, the very first thing she did was skip out on her job to bug her brother instead. Kythor is now haunted by her death in a way he didn't expect.
