Mono Mondays: "Oceanic Traffic"
Share
On Mondays, we like to support our resident artist, Mono! They're an up and coming scribbler of things dark and weird, and we consider ourselves lucky to have leeched onto— er, formed a mutually beneficial relationship with them. You can watch Mono hard at work creating various pieces on their YouTube channel. For those who don't feel like watching digital paint getting splashed around, we'll be showcasing a different piece of theirs right here every Monday.
This week's work: "Oceanic Traffic"

Asked about the piece, Mono explained that it's the inside of an underwater grotto, warmed by the vent in the foreground and lit only by the hole in the background. "This was made over the summer while I was jamming to pirate music, and I got this beauty. It's got a ton of animals that have lots of appendages, too -_- The opening to the surface ocean is really cool, if I must say so myself! I would change the vent if I got another chance at it."
As you can see, Mono likes to try out different mediums, depending on the project. Their favorites are the digital drawing pad, which allows them to use effects to add atmosphere to their work, and paint markers over acrylic, as seen here. You'll likely see more of the latter than the former for these posts, since you can find a lot of digital work on their channel (link above!).
Oh, and that dark figure in the background, the one about to have an encounter with all those tentacles? Don't worry. He had it coming.
