Mono Mondays: Return of the Ferret

Mono Mondays: Return of the Ferret

On Mondays, we like to support our resident artist, Mono!  They're an up-and-coming scribbler of things dark and weird, and we consider ourselves lucky to have leeched onto— er, formed a mutually beneficial relationship with them.  You can watch Mono hard at work creating various pieces on their YouTube channel.  For those who don't feel like watching digital paint getting splashed around, we'll be showcasing a different piece of theirs right here every Monday.

For the last Monday of the year, we're honoring a promise made last month.  Mono said that they were going to re-draw a character of theirs, Alphine, to demonstrate the progress in their artistic skills.  This they have done.  One thing that has definitely progressed:  their perfectionism.

When they sent us their updated piece, Mono had a lot to say.  Most of it boiled down to, "I could've done ___ better."  For example:  "I wanted to do something similar to the 'Deerest' series I made for the lighting but I did it a little weird and no matter what I tried, I wasn't sure so I'm not touching it for a bit."

Even they were able to acknowledge that this is better than their first version, at least.  "I think I'm way happier with this. There's even little paw pads this time around."  Still, Mono is already thinking of what they'll be doing the next time they make an attempt with this character.  That won't be until sometime next year, however.  Most things won't be until next year, in fact.

Until next year, friends.
