Mono Mondays: Steampunk Disaster

On Mondays, we like to support our resident artist, Mono!  They're an up-and-coming scribbler of things dark and weird, and we consider ourselves lucky to have leeched onto— er, formed a mutually beneficial relationship with them.  You can watch Mono hard at work creating various pieces on their YouTube channel.  For those who don't feel like watching digital paint getting splashed around, we'll be showcasing a different piece of theirs right here every Monday.

This week, we see the consequences of trying to cross boundaries.

Several issues have already been raised in regard to exploring too far off the known paths of Mono's world.  One direction that hasn't been mentioned is the sky.  Surely that's a safer realm to traverse, no?

No.

Past a certain height, the only creatures in the air are dragons, and they like it that way.  In fact, that altitude is considered a dragons-only zone, and one of the few ways to guarantee a dragon sighting is to travel upwards.  Unfortunately, dragons don't take kindly to aerial trespassers, so if the dragon happens to sight you, bad things can happen.  Mono relates an occasion where Art, the art slime, happened to watch an inventor using a sky train to take others on a sightseeing tour of the dragon reaches:

"Art Slimey has only seen one big dragon when they were younger, the bright mint eyes glaring down at the new train that the humans built... The creaking of magic snapping and metal tearing... The screams of the magic casters on board... The silence that followed, the only evidence that anything happened was the smoke that lingered as it faded into the clouds."
