Mono Mondays: The Slime King
Share
On Mondays, we like to support our resident artist, Mono! They're an up-and-coming scribbler of things dark and weird, and we consider ourselves lucky to have leeched onto— er, formed a mutually beneficial relationship with them. You can watch Mono hard at work creating various pieces on their YouTube channel. For those who don't feel like watching digital paint getting splashed around, we'll be showcasing a different piece of theirs right here every Monday.
This week, we meet the King of the Slimes.

Mono has a bit of a fascination with slimes and has been quietly building lore to go with their slime-based artwork. Case in point: the Slime King here, an example of what happens when the little goopy critters work together. According to Mono, what you're looking at is actually several slimes that have combined into a singular form. Each round, swirling orb is the core of a single slime, which would normally coat itself in... well, slime, and use said goo as both locomotion and protection. Occasionally, large slimes will form when several smaller slimes group into a larger-than-normal blobby object. However, the tiny core in the "crown" is capable of both intelligent thought and coercion; it has convinced the others to adopt a more or less humanoid shape, which it pilots like some kind of slime-mecha. The cape was, at one point, part of a snack until the Slime King realized it could serve as a rudimentary disguise. The tail has been hardened to use as a short-range attack when coating something in slime and absorbing it doesn't work out.
Will we see more unusual slimes such as this one? Probably. Will they all possess cloaks that lend them an air of mystery? Only time will tell.
